Have you been exercising to lose weight but haven’t seen the numbers on the scale change?  Are you sick of exercising and not seeing results?  Here are five reasons your workout is not making you lose weight.

– You can’t outrun a bad diet.  Exercise is great and can help produce weight loss, but generally people who need to lose weight also need to change their eating habits to lose more than a few pounds.  Most people aren’t able to lose significant amounts of weight without changing their diet.

– Your workout isn’t intense enough.  Any level of intensity is fantastic for your overall health, but the lower the intensity, the longer you will have to exercise to acheive the same calorie-burning benefits of more intense exercise.

– Your workouts aren’t consistent enough.  It’s easy to feel like you’re exercising a lot, when in reality you worked out once two weeks ago, three times last week, and twice this week.  To lose weight, national recommendations are to exercise for about an hour on most days of the week – that’s a lot!

– You’re eating more because you feel like you “earned it.”  If you want to lose weight, don’t reward yourself with food after working out – your reward is your health, physique and sense of accomplishment.  Don’t reward yourself with food.

– You’re expecting immediate results.  Remember, losing weight takes time.  You WILL see and feel a difference, but you have to be patient.
